THE LORD VOLDEMORT OF COMPUTERS: CODE RED

OF COURSE, Every one of us has experienced the torment of having our computers virus struck. Ughhh We know the feeling is bad, very very bad

So, today we thought to tell you about one of the biggest villains in the computer world, CODE RED.

Discovered in 2001, the virus surfaced the computers running on Internet Information Services (IIS) web server of Microsoft, exploiting their vulnerability. The worms overloaded the machines with information causing them to crash.

Dar gaye?

A more complicated form of it, Code Red II, showed up at the same time which marked even more destruction. The computers failed to obey commands from the user since the worm allowed a remote user to access and control the machine. The remote users also used infected computers to commit crimes. This, then, gave birth to the second layer of issues since users may also be accused of doing crimes they did not commit.
To the rescue, Microsoft then took actions to counter the worm and stop its spread across other machines.

Wonder why this virus was named so?

Employees of a famous software security company known as eEye Digital Security discovered this worm as a threat while drinking a soft drink, Code Red Mountain Dew. There, there! Now you know why it is named as ‘Code Red’.

INTERESTING IS N’T IT?
